There is counter culture movement in Atlanta that is up-ending traditional manufacturing called the ‘Maker Movement.’ Atlanta entrepreneurs are turning their creativity into cash with one-of-a-kind handcrafted products. From a wooden furniture created from tree stumps, to custom exoskeleton armor, the Atlanta maker subculture is making their mark with their hacker ingenuity.
Decatur’s own, Tomas Holgado, is one of Atlanta’s premier luthiers. Utilizing his background as a musician and his previous job, loading equipment for the historic music venue the Masquerade, Tomas has created a business of making custom guitars from the wood at the Masquerade.
In the inaugural episode of “Making It” we feature Atlanta’s own, Char Miller-King. Head Maker and CEO of Wooden Maven Inc, Miller-King creates custom furniture and accessories that are inspired by her own family.
