What do you mean by "multicast?"

Multicasting is the ability of one radio station to send out multiple signals, each a distinct and different format and service. WABE, for example, transmits three distinct services on its HD signal:

• WABE 90.1-1: the regular WABE 90.1 FM simulcast,
• WABE 90.1-2 or WABE Classical: a 24-hour all-music station, and
• WABE 90.1-3 or WABE News: a 24-hour all-news and talk station.

With HD Radio’s multicasting capabilities, broadcasters can better serve their listening audiences by tailoring their HD channels to meet specific interests.
