Stories from the Heart of the Land with Jay Allison
April 17, 2008
Jay Allison, who is the Executive Producer and host of a new radio series entitled Stories from the Heart of the Land, introduced us to this fascinating series at the Jimmy Carter Library Theater on April 17.
In partnership with the Nature Conservancy and the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, our Cornerstone members and their guests enjoyed a reception in the gardens followed by a lively discussion of the series. This six-part radio series ranges across the world to capture the human connection to land and landscape. Jay played numerous clips from the series including an encounter with a grizzly bear and standing alone on the top of the world at the North Pole!
Jay Allison is a lifelong journalist and producer for public radio and television. His series, This I Believe, which WABE airs on Friday mornings during Morning Edition has become a favorite of public radio listeners. As an independent documentary maker, Allison has won most of the major broadcasting awards, including the DuPont Columbia, five Peabodys, and CPB’s Edward R. Murrow Award, the industry’s highest honor.
