Center for Puppetry Arts
February 15, 2009
Sunday, February 15 was a great day for members of our Cornerstone Society. We visited the Center for Puppetry Arts and experienced the wonder of a puppet show through the eyes of our children. Many of the members brought their children, or their grandchildren or their friend’s children to a wonderful show entitled Weather Rocks. More than one hundred of us attended the performance.
The show opened the door to the mysteries of Mother Nature with an original musical filled with cool facts about rain, snow, twisters, sunshine and scary thunder and lightning! From a newsroom in the clouds, five energetic meteorologists told us all about the weather with an array of songs ranging from sunny melodies to rock to gospel. Throughout the show, we laughed, clapped, cried and at times were definitely very scared. A great time was had by everyone!
After the show, the puppeteers took a variety of questions from our group and explained how the puppeteers worked the puppets and gave them “life”. Sometimes, there were three puppeteers working a single puppet. There was no doubt that by the end of the day all the children, both the adult children and the real ones, had enjoyed a spectacular journey into the wonders of Mother Nature and were sad that the magic had come to an end!
