Antigone at Georgia Shakespeare
October 7, 2008
On October 7, about 100 Cornerstone members and their guests gathered in the Conant Performing Arts Center at Oglethorpe University to see Georgia Shakespeare’s latest production of the Greek tragedy, Antigone by Sophocles. The play was adapted and directed by Richard Garner and presented as a modern musical. Kendell Simpson wrote the music.
Judging from the reaction of the audience, it was an excellent production and kept us all involved right up to the last line.
After the play, many of us stayed to visit with the Director and the cast who answered our questions and discussed the production.
Prior to the play we all met in the lobby of the theater for a wine, beer and hors’d’oeuvres reception.
