North Georgia Pickleball Club

It’s one of the fastest growing sports in the country. It’s called pickleball, and in Cherokee county it has taken off. Tom and Ann Earley discovered the game on a trip to Arizona and fell in love immediately. When they returned home, they decided to start the North Georgia Pickleball Club. The club has since exploded in popularity. Now players from around the area travel to the Earley’s backyard tennis courts four times a week to play pickleball.

What is pickleball? Some would describe it as half-court tennis. Some would describe it as ping-pong while standing on the table. It is played on a court that is smaller than a standard tennis court, with a racket and a hard plastic ball. Its popularity is soaring among seniors due to the smaller court and relative ease of play compared to tennis.

The North Georgia Pickleball Club has members of all ages and competition levels. Every fall they host a tournament with proceeds going to charity.
