Bill and Peg Balzer

January, 2005

Bill and Peg Balzer first began attending New York theater while they were living in New Jersey and Westchester County New York. When they came to Atlanta in 1991, they continued to enjoy the theater, attending performances in venues across the metro area. In 1998, the Balzers began attending productions by Atlanta’s Theatrical Outfit as guests of Graham Martin, the then President of the group’s Board of Directors, and were soon after elected to the Board themselves. About a year later, Mr. Balzer was elected as Vice-President of the board, when the group decided to find Theatrical Outfit its own space. The Balzers were integral in securing the new space — in the renovated Herren’s restaurant in downtown Atlanta. The state-of-the-art, 200-seat theater is named for the Balzers — the Balzer Theater at Herren’s — and Theatrical Outfit is now in the midst of its inaugural season there.

The Balzers are avid supporters of theater throughout Atlanta. They’ve attended performances at the Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech, Horizon Theatre, Dad’s Garage, Actor’s Express, Seven Stages, Shakespeare Tavern, Jomandi, Theatre in the Square, Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, Georgia Shakespeare Festival at Oglethorpe University, Alliance Theatre, Theatre Gael, and Synchronicity Performance Group, on which board Mrs. Balzer also serves.

For their wonderful support of Atlanta’s theater community, Bill and Peg Balzer exemplify the spirit of a Lexus Leader of the Arts.
