Kim Patrick Bitz was appointed Executive Director of the Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts (known then as Atlanta Coalition of Theatres) in February of 1997. During his tenure the service organization’s membership has expanded to support and promote all disciplines of the performing arts (theatre, dance, music, and film arts). ACPA has grown from 48 member organizations to over 150 from 16 greater Atlanta counties. An Individual membership was also added, which now boasts nearly 400 performing arts professionals.

Programs and services have also grown and now include the AtlanTIX half-price ticket booths which, in July 2005, passed the milestone of $1 million in ticket sales revenue earned for performing arts companies and cultural attractions. Also developed under Kim’s management are the annual Unified Auditions & Designer Showcase, Atlanta ShowGuide publication, Gift Tix, a variety of email groups, the Stephen Petty Memorial Fund, the Georgia Arts & Entertainment Legacy Award, and the popular www.AtlantaPerforms.com, the gateway to greater Atlanta’s performing arts scene for the public and people in the industry. Staff has also increased from one full time employee, to five full-time and six part-time employees.

Prior to working for ACPA, Kim spent eight years at The Body Politic Theatre in Chicago (the city’s oldest off-Loop theatre) with the last five as Administrative Director. Kim also held the position of Managing Director for his home town Evansville, Indiana’s auditorium & convention center for many years, spearheading a major renovation of the facility. In addition, he has led and participated on numerous committees for major festivals and various arts and community concerns. Kim has directed nearly twenty productions for professional, university and community theatre, as well as performing in, designing, and stage managing numerous productions.
