Milbre Burch
Grammy-nominated storyteller Milbre Burch has long been fascinated with the role of gender and identity in the world’s folktales. This Friday night, she will present her latest storytelling program at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta. She stopped by our studios earlier to talk about the program, “Changing Skins: Folktales about Gender, Identity and Humanity.” She also discussed why she thinks stories resonate with us. She began by discussing her own background.

Bruce Feiler on The Council of Dads
In 2008, Georgia-born author Bruce Feiler was diagnosed with cancer. Almost immediately, he began a project to assemble a group of men who could stand in as father figures for his twin daughters in the event of his death. Out of that process came his newest book, The Council of Dads: My Daughters, My Illness and the Men Who Could Be Me. It’s a work about the many roles played by one man, a father. Feiler is probably best known for his books on faith, Walking the Bible, Abraham and America’s Prophet.
WABE’s John Lemley began this conversation by asking Bruce how he’s doing these days.
