Caroline Herring
Garrison Keillor and the cast of A Prairie Home Companion take the stage at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre tomorrow night. And Decatur’s singer-songwriter Caroline Herring will be among the musical guests. Caroline stopped by our studios earlier for a conversation about her music, including her latest album, Golden Apples of the Sun. She began by telling us about the making of that album.

Georgia History: Stone Mountain Dedication
On this date in 1916 a ceremony was held, marking the beginning of the effort to carve a Confederate memorial on the face of Stone Mountain. WABE’s John Lemley sat down with Dr. Tim Crimmins to discuss Stone Mountain’s significance to various groups of people through the years. Dr. Crimmins is the director of The Center of Metropolitan Studies at Georgia State University.

Bike to Work Week
Here at City Café, we’re celebrating Bike to Work Week. In honor of our pedaling listeners and friends, City Café producer Myke Johns decided to park his car for a day and give bike commuting a try. He needed to get from the Decatur area all the way to our studios near the intersection of Cheshire Bridge and Piedmont Roads in Midtown, a good six miles away. Myke borrowed a bike and asked producer and bike commuter, Dana Goldman, to come along for the ride.

She always assumed that spouse would be a man, but then she was serving on the board of a nonprofit, and helped interview 43-year-old Tonja Holder for a job. Now they’re partners. At StoryCorps, Satyam told Tonja what was on that original checklist.
A Night at the Bicycle Races
It’s national Bike to Work Week, and despite its reputation as a car town, Atlanta is actually a popular destination for pro-cyclists, since it’s home to one of a handful of bicycle racetracks in the country.
Kate Sweeney went to the races at East Point’s Dick Lane Velodrome on a recent Saturday, to find out what makes the place so exciting for cyclists and bike-civilians alike.
