Remembering Hank Aaron’s Atlanta Home Run
On this day in 1974, almost 54,000 people packed into Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium to see the Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Walter Banks was there that day. Banks is a VIP usher at Turner Field who rarely misses a game, and in this Atlanta Sounds Long Play, he recounts witnessing a piece of baseball history.

In Decatur, Children’s Storytime Gets Poetic
April is National Poetry Month, a time set aside each year to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. The celebration is not just for the grown-ups. WABE’s Myke Johns recently attended a poetry reading for children at Decatur’s Little Shop of Stories, where Terra McVoy was introducing a new generation to verse. Terra is a young adult novelist and Assistant Programming Director of the Decatur Book Festival.
