Sleepy Hollow Ballet
In the 189 years since American author Washington Irving wrote “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” The headless horseman has not only galloped through reader’s imaginations, but across stages and movie screens as well, However, it was not until 2006 that Irving’s tale made it to Ballet boards here in Atlanta.

Howard Finster
On this day back in 2001, the state of Georgia and the world at large lost a unique and energetic artistic voice when folk artist Howard Finster passed away at the age of 84. Over the course of three decades, Finster created over forty six thousand works of art, including the sprawling Paradise Garden in Summerville, Georgia.
To learn more about this self-described Man of Visions, WABE’s Myke Johns headed down to the High Museum for a chat with their Curator of Folk Art, Susan Crawley.

Moore In America
Earlier this spring we visited the Atlanta Botanical Garden, to have a look at their display of sculptures by Henry Moore sculptures, and English artist and sculpture. We spoke with Mary Pat Matheson, executive director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, about this exhibit that will be wrapping up at the end of this month.

Carter Center Library Reopens
It was earlier this month that the Carter Center library and museum re-opened after being closed for renovations. You might remember a tour we took of the facility on City Café during about mid way through those renovations. Well, WABE’s David Barasoain was at the opening earlier this month — on October 1st in fact - and he has this report, now, about what visitors found at the new Carter Center library and museum.

Georgia History: Martin Luther King Jr. Arrest
October 19, 1960 Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested when he requested to be served in the Magnolia room in Rich’s downtown department store. We recall this date in history with Dr. Tim Crimmins, Professor of History at Georgia State University and Director of the Center for Neighborhood and Metropolitan Studies.
