Japan Fest
The largest Japanese festival in the Southeast gets underway this weekend. Japan Fest is now in it’s 23rd year and here to talk about this event is former CNN Headline news anchor and now General Manager of Japan Fest, Sachi Koto.

East Atlanta Strut
Now in its 12th year, the East Atlanta Strut is a free, community organized, one-day festival, featuring music, art and events to raise money for neighborhood charities and organizations and support local businesses. It features over 40 musical acts, an artist’s market, a 5K run, activities for children (free face painting!) a silent auction and one of the craziest parades to tromp through Atlanta’s streets.

Parking is limited, so MARTA is the recommended way to get to the Strut. From the Inman Park station, the Route 4 bus can take you right to Glenwood Avenue.

Georgia History: Harstfield
Today, we once again sit down with Tim Crimmins, Professor of History and Director of the Center for Neighborhood and Metropolitan Studies at Georgia State University, for a look at this month in Georgia History.
Our segment today deals with Atlanta mayor William B. Hartsfield, who served the city from 1937 to 1941, and again from 1942 until 1961. As it turns out, he almost didn’t serve that second, two-decade term.
