Johns Creek Arts Festival
It’s difficult enough o get a brand new city up and running, but it’s another matter entirely for that new city to mount its own arts festival only nine months into its existence. However, that’s just what Johns Creek did two years ago when it premiered its Arts on The Creek Festival in September of 2007. The third Art on The Creek is this weekend and here to talk about it is Ron Cioffi.

National Biscuit Month
September is designated as the month to celebrate that perennial Southern breakfast table favorite, the biscuit. That’s right, today marks the first day of National Biscuit Month.
We recently got a lesson in biscuit-making from none other than Scott Peacock, head chef at Watershed in Decatur. Steeped in the traditions of Southern cuisine, Peacock is coauthor of The Gift of Southern Cooking, which collects the “recipes and revelations” of his work with Edna Lewis, widely regarded as the South’s answer to Julia Child.
Huddled over the steel counters of Watershed’s kitchen, Peacock was quick to check my credentials…

A professor of English at Emory University, Tretheway will be one of a few hundred writers who will be in town this weekend for the forth annual Decatur Book Festival where she will join award winning poet Jericho Brown to read and discuss Poetry of the Gulf Coast.
