Literacy Action
You most likely scan through the paper, read e-mails, perhaps even find the time to read a book these days with little or no thought as to how amazing it is that your really able to do so. Not everyone has that gift of literacy, thats why Literacy Action was founded a little over 40 years ago in Atlanta. The organization has been serving the Atlanta Metro community continuously since 1968 and is the largest community based adult basic education provider in Georgia.
Tonight Mayor Shirley Franklin will highlight the importance of education and celebrate the achievements of adult learners at a recognition ceremony for Literacy Action students.

Atlanta’s culinary arts have been getting a lot of attention lately— with local chefs showing up in television kitchens, cooking for competition and recognition. But downtown on Edgewood Avenue, far from the limelight, some ‘celebrity chefs’ are showing up in a different kind of kitchen. As Susan Mittleman explains, here, they’re cooking to help raise money for a good cause.

King Reflecting Pool Rehab
The paint and sealant continue to dry this afternoon at the King Center’s Reflecting Pool.
Volunteers last week in honor of the late Dr. & Mrs. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 56th wedding anniversary… spent two days giving the center’s Reflecting pool a much-needed makeover.
