Mike Luckovich
For the last 20-years Mike Luckovich has been drawing editorial cartoons for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. His cartoons have garnered wide praise and at times deep criticism. But his work is noticed. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in both 1995 and 2006. WABE’s David Barasoain produced this profile.

Business Coach Robin Hensley has done just that with her new book Raising the Bar: Legendary Rainmakers Share Their Business Development Secrets. We recently spoke with Robin about the book and the interviews that led to what’s inside.

Georgia Shakespeare
The Georgia Shakespeare Festival has kicked off it’s summer series at Oglethorpe University with Shakespeare’s classic comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” This is Georgia Shakespeare’s 24th anniversary season and we are honored to have with us Richard Garner, who is the Producing Artistic Director and Co-Founder.

On this date in 1868, the first issue of the Atlanta Journal hit newsstands. Begun as a Democratic paper to compete with the Republican Atlanta Daily Era, the Constitution looked much different at its inception than it does today, it being all of four pages at a cost of ten cents.
To learn more about the history of Atlanta’s newspaper, we spoke with Dr. Timothy Crimmins, Professor of History at Georgia State University, where he’s also Director of the Center for Neighborhood and Metropolitan Studies.

Atlanta Lyric Theater and Cabaret
The Atlanta Lyric Theatre has brought a little of 1930s Berlin to Cobb County this month. Kandar & Ebb’s Cabaret opened on the 12th and runs through the 28th at the Strand Theatre on historic Marietta Square. We recently spoke with Brant Blocker, the Artistic Director and General Manager of the Lyric Theatre, about this production which wraps up their first season at the Strand.
