Today in history, February 6th, back in 1952, Elizabeth the Second ascended the throne to become Queen of the United Kingdom, succeeding her father, King George the Sixth. February 6th is also the day that Rastafarians recognize as Bob Marley Day. And February 6th is also the annual date for the lesser known National Pay-A-Compliment Day. Recently we stopped by the High Museum of Art to find out who you felt were compliment-worthy. And one program note, the final compliment is in German and it’s a young lady thanking her Atlanta host family for a super year.

This production of Dracula, choreographed by Michael Pink, marks its fifth run since the Atlanta premier in 1998.

It’s possible that you recognize that name from a large body of water just north of Atlanta—however you may not know that the man behind the name was a post-Civil War teacher, flutist, organist, novelist and poet from Macon, Georgia. Earlier Dr. Copeland stopped by to reacquaint us with our lake’s namesake.

High Museum One Millionth Visitor
The High Museum of Art is currently presenting the final exhibition of its Louvre Atlanta collection. It opened the 3-year run in October of 2006 and has featured hundreds of works that were originally housed in Paris’ famed museum.
But the High had a milestone of sorts last Friday afternoon. It was then that they had the 1-Millionth visitor at their Louvre Atlanta Collection.
Library Lover’s Month
Library Lover’s Month is in full swing at the thirty four branches of the Atlanta Fulton Public Library system. It’s a good time to hug your favorite book or pat your local librarian on the back.
Library Director John Szabo says the twenty first century library has more to offer than just books.
