Charenée Wade | Emerging Jazz Icons Concert Series
Saturday, Nov. 4, 2018 at 8 p.m. | Woodruff Arts Center – Rich Auditorium
Join PBA30 and WABE for a special night live in concert with jazzsinger, composer, arranger Charenée Wade. Plus, PBA30 and WABE supporters are also invited to the VIP Post-show reception and Meet & Greet!*
The first artist ever to enter two Thelonious Monk vocal competitions, Charenée Wade walked away from the second one in 2010 with instant buzz and second place to her new friend Cecile McLorin Salvant. Known for expert vocal improvisational ability and her seriously swinging groove, Wade evokes a classic jazz sound akin to Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, two of her musical touchstones. Charenée performs internationally and graces the stages of the Jazz Gallery, Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, the legendary Smalls and the Zinc Bar in NYC. Her debut CD, Love Walked In, was released in July 2010.
