Little Free Libraries

Book lovers, did you know there are new libraries popping up all over Atlanta? Not traditional libraries, but Little Free Libraries in a front yard near you.

The first Little Free Library was built in 2009 in Hudson, Wis. The idea was simple. Take a book from the miniature library and leave behind a book you’ve already read. It’s free, and best of all there are no late fees! The idea was so popular there are now thousands of Little Free Libraries in front yards, sidewalks and schools all over the world.

You can purchase a library from the organization’s website, but many people choose to build their own. In Atlanta you can find libraries that range from a simple box with a roof, to an elaborate recreation of the Plaza Theatre. Whether you buy or build your library, the goal is to meet people and share books. View a map of Little Free Libraries near you.
