The Letter A Day Project

Randy Osborne is an Atlanta writer and journalist. He is a co-founder of Carapace, a monthly series where people share true stories at Manuel’s Tavern in Atlanta. Randy’s interest in storytelling led him to attempt a more ambitious project. He set out to compose one handwritten letter a day, every day, throughout 2013. Word spread quickly about Randy’s “Letter A Day Project” via the Internet, and by March he had already received over 400 letter requests from around the world.

In the digital age, handwriting has increasingly been replaced by typing and word processor programs. While Randy says this project is not a rebellion against computers, he enjoys keeping the art of handwriting alive. He’s had so much fun exchanging stories with complete strangers; he intends to continue the project beyond 2013 as long as the letters keep pouring in.
