Hidden SoundsHidden Sound musician Brian Parks on This Is Atlanta

A piano teacher and graduate of Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Brian Parks recently performed Bach’s most intimidating piece, the Well-Tempered Clavier, at the Woodruff Arts Center. But he can often be found playing in much more out-of-the-way places.

Inspired by Atlanta’s rapidly changing landscape, Brian and some friends created a unique concert series entitled “Music in Near-Inaccessible Environs: Public and Private Spaces.”

Initially, they performed every day in vacant lots, ruined buildings, and construction sites but have since pared the schedule back to a semi-weekly basis. While the grand piano is out of the question for these performances, Brian brings along his custom-made virginal, an instrument that is a close musical relative of the harpsichord.
