Technical Services Manager

Reports To: Sr. Director of Digital Services
Summary
Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Digital Services, this position is responsible for the development, operation, maintenance of the IT infrastructure, telephone systems and support services for the organization. The Technical Services Manager will provide strategic direction to the IT team while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and operational effectiveness for the IT function.
Accountabilities
- Provide ongoing organizational needs analysis for the IT department including execution strategies, personnel alignment efficiencies and optimization goals.
- Create and Review project plans and coordinate project activity.
- Manage network, backup, security, telephone and user help systems.
- Develop, interpret and implement organizational IT goals, policies, and procedures.
- Develop computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
- Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
- Stay abreast of advances in technology.
- Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
- Provide users with technical support for computer problems.
- Evaluate data processing and IT infrastructure proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise staff, and participate in staffing decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology or related field.
Candidate must have strong work experience in key areas of IT including but not limited to:
- Network Infrastructure and protocols - TCP/IP, WiFi (802.11g/n), VPN, DNS, SNMP,
- LAN/WAN hardware - Switches, Routers; Telephony infrastructure - T-1, DSL, etc
- Server and Network Operating Systems - Microsoft Windows XP/7, Windows Server 2003-2008, Active Directory, VM Ware, SharePoint, Exchange 2010
- LAN/WAN Tools — Familiar with Microsoft SCCM
- Centralized Data storage — SAN or Dell Equallogic Systems
- Data backup/recovery solutions - CA, Backup Exec
- Software: Microsoft Office 2007, Symantec Anti-Virus,
Certifications:
- Network Certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE a plus
- Microsoft Certification (MCSE) a plus
Required Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years experience in IT, preferably in management or operations.
- Supervisory experience, good organization and leadership qualities and a broad knowledge of the public media industry a must.

- A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.

- An excellent negotiator who is experienced in contracts. A decisive individual who possesses a “big picture” perspective and is well versed in systems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management and staff.
Mathematical Skills Ability to apply basic mathematical equations and concepts. Ability to determine test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
