Lens on Atlanta

Lens on Atlanta is a new social community that is being developed to promote the arts, education, and civic engagement within metro Atlanta.

Responsibilities: Assist with and monitor user-generated content including text, photos and video insure that it meets and maintains community standards. Write and maintain a Lens on Atlanta blog. Engage in social networking sites to build conversations around Lens on Atlanta. Provide administrative support to Lens on Atlanta staff as needed.

Opportunities are available during the Summer and Fall. Candidates must be available to work 12-15 hours a week. This is a paid internship.

The ideal candidates will have a strong interest and knowledge of social networking; have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be motivated self-starters. Familiarity with content management systems is a plus.

Atlanta Forum Network: Video Production

The Atlanta Forum Network (AFN) is web-based initiative of Public Broadcasting Atlanta (PBA-30/TV and WABE-90.1/FM). AFN is dedicated to streaming on-demand recordings of local discussions, speeches and presentations by scholars, authors, artists, scientists, policy makers and community leaders on a variety of educational and interesting topics.

Responsibilities: AFN is looking for student interns to help videotape live events and help make them available to a wider audience. Opportunities to develop skills in field production, editing, web encoding, and various aspects of promotions (including social media) will be included.

Depending on the education institution’s policy, the student may be able to earn credit, while gaining valuable experience. Video production equipment and basic operation instructions will be provided.

Most of these events occur weekday evenings and some are held during the day. Students would need to use their own transportation to travel to these events. Prior experience and aptitude for capturing good quality video and audio are a plus.
